Maria Shriver talks about Women & Money

Last week Maria Shriver and the Center for American Progress released the Shriver Report (see awomansnation.com). The reports highlights the changes in society related to women. Some or the data is slightly different than what my research found. The Shriver reports shows 38% of all managers are women.   My research shows women hold 46% of all management and professional positions.  Most research measures slightly different criteria.   Bottom line,  women are now firmly established in the marketplace.  In fact the Shriver Report indicates that many women are serious breadwinners.  Among women with higher education, 41% earn equal or more than their husbands.  This is a huge change from earlier decades.

Sadly women are not well connected to financial services. Only 20% of women would go to a bank for financial services help and only 30% would go to a financial advisor. Where are women going?  My research did not indicate where they were going, only were they were not going.  It’s my belief that they are not getting important professional support.

My primary goal is to help women and financial services professionals get well connected and develop productive professional partnerships.  Women need their financial resources to match their work achievement.  Let’s get to it!
