Why the 3-D Vision Technique?
Human beings naturally underestimate the impact of present decisions on their future happiness. This is caused by two cognitive biases:
- Natural instinct to get pleasure & avoid pain, immediately!
- Inability to feel and fully imagine the consequences of today’s actions.
To make wise decisions we need a technique that brings the present and future into equal focus, and emphasizes the emotional impact of our actions. The 3-D Vision technique does both things.
Why Not a Pro & Con List?
Frankly, there’s nothing built into a standard pro & con list to correct cognitive bias. The 3-D Vision technique brings the future impact into sharp focus. It’s built to deliver a clear future vision.
We were shoved into a year-long state of mortal fear and uncertainty, resulting in a national mental and emotional hangover. Many people have felt:
A lackluster malaise (things keep changing, why should I plan? what’s the point? I don’t have control over my life.)
A high level of uncertainty (what is safe to do? Will my efforts be eliminated tomorrow? Will all the rules change again next week?)
A strong desire to grab what feels good (Enough! I’m going to do what’s good for me, now. I’m getting off the treadmill. My job/career is not that important anymore.)
There is a reason that the APA (American Psychological Association) has been warning about depression, anxiety, stress-eating, and increased use of substances. Being in a year long state of fear and uncertainty, is highly detrimental.
We need positive re-orienting to create a happy future.
